Welcome to Youth United for Vision and Action (“YUVA”, “We”, “Us”, or “Our”), a youth-focused organisation committed to creating opportunities, fostering leadership, encouraging academic, social and cultural engagement, and enabling young people to contribute meaningfully to society and national development.

YUVA conducts and facilitates various initiatives including youth programmes, academic and cultural activities, events, internships, fellowships, volunteering opportunities, membership programmes, research and community-oriented activities.

We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the Personal Data you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, process, share and safeguard your personal information when you visit the YUVA website, register for or participate in our programmes and activities, apply for internships or fellowships, become a member or volunteer, make a donation, or otherwise interact with YUVA.

Administrator Role

YUVA operates and administers its website, programmes and activities and is responsible for managing registrations, applications, participant information, communications, programme administration and related operations.

Digital and Third-Party Platforms

Access to certain YUVA programmes, application forms, communications, events or other activities may take place through integrated third-party digital platforms, applications, communication services or other technology providers.

Where you interact with such third-party platforms, their respective terms and privacy policies may also apply to their processing of your information.

Infrastructure & Hosting

YUVA’s website, databases, participant records, applicant information and associated digital systems are intended to be hosted, stored and processed on secure infrastructure located in India, subject to the applicable arrangements with YUVA’s technology and service providers.

Target Audience & Permissible Age

YUVA is a youth-focused organisation serving students, young people, young professionals, academics, volunteers, members and other individuals interested in its programmes and activities.

Certain YUVA programmes, internships, fellowships or activities may have specific eligibility requirements relating to age, educational qualifications, institutional affiliation or other criteria.

Where an activity requires participants to be at least 18 years of age, the relevant programme or application form will specify such requirement.

Where YUVA collects or processes personal data relating to individuals below the applicable age threshold, including children, YUVA will take such measures as may be required under applicable law.

We collect different categories of information depending on how you interact with YUVA.

A. Personal Identifiable Information / Personal Data

  • Identity Data: Full name, age or date of birth where required, gender where relevant, and other identification details.
  • Contact Data: Email address, mobile number, postal address, city, state and other contact information.
  • Educational Data: Name of school, college or university, course/programme, year of study, educational qualifications and academic information.
  • Professional Data: Occupation, organisation, work experience, skills, areas of interest and professional information where relevant.
  • Membership Data: Membership details, participation history, interests and other information required for administering YUVA membership.
  • Application Data: Information submitted through internship, fellowship, volunteer, event or other programme applications.

B. Internship & Fellowship Application Data

For internship and fellowship applications, YUVA may collect:

  • Full name;
  • Email address;
  • Mobile number;
  • College/university details;
  • Course and year of study;
  • Academic qualifications;
  • CV/resume;
  • Statement of Purpose (SOP);
  • Responses to application questions;
  • Areas of interest;
  • Skills and previous experience;
  • Writing samples or supporting documents, where requested; and
  • Other information reasonably required for evaluating and administering the application.

C. Participation, Learning & Programme Data

Depending on the nature of the programme or activity, this may include:

  • Registration and enrolment history;
  • Event and programme attendance;
  • Participation records;
  • Volunteer assignments;
  • Application and selection status;
  • Assessment or submission information, where applicable;
  • Certificate or recognition eligibility;
  • Feedback and survey responses; and
  • Communications relating to participation in YUVA activities.

D. Donation & Payment Data

When you make a donation through the YUVA website, we may collect:

  • Donor name;
  • Email address;
  • Mobile number;
  • Address, where required;
  • Donation amount;
  • Transaction or payment reference;
  • Information required for issuing donation receipts;
  • PAN or other information where required for applicable tax or statutory purposes; and
  • Other information reasonably necessary for processing and recording the donation.

E. Communication & Interaction Data

  • Enquiries and requests submitted to YUVA;
  • Feedback and survey responses;
  • Communication records;
  • Information provided through contact forms;
  • Applications and correspondence;
  • Information provided during interviews or selection processes; and
  • Other information voluntarily provided to YUVA.

F. Technical & Automated Information

When you visit the YUVA website, certain technical information may be automatically collected, depending on the website’s configuration and technologies in use.

Purpose of Data Collection

Your Personal Data is collected and processed for legitimate, program-related and organisational purposes, including:

  • Program & Activity Delivery: Administering YUVA programmes, events, initiatives, membership activities, internships, fellowships, volunteering opportunities and other activities.
  • Internship & Fellowship Administration: Processing applications, assessing eligibility, reviewing SOPs and other application materials, conducting interviews, communicating with applicants, facilitating selection and administering selected candidates.
  • Membership & Participation: Managing membership, volunteer participation, event registration, programme participation and related records.
  • Communication: Sending programme updates, application updates, event information, registration confirmations, internship/fellowship communications, certificates, announcements and other relevant communications through email, SMS, phone, messaging applications or other appropriate channels.
  • Certification & Recognition: Verifying participation and eligibility and issuing certificates, acknowledgements, awards or other forms of recognition.
  • Donations: Processing donations, issuing receipts, maintaining financial records and fulfilling applicable tax, accounting and statutory requirements.
  • Program Evaluation & Research: Assessing the impact and effectiveness of YUVA initiatives, preparing reports, conducting research, generating statistical information and improving programmes and activities. Where reasonably possible, information used for reporting, research or analysis will be aggregated or anonymised/de-identified.
  • Administrative & Security Requirements: Preventing fraud, misuse or unauthorised access, maintaining website security, providing technical support and protecting the rights, safety and integrity of YUVA and its participants.
  • Legal & Compliance Requirements: Complying with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, tax and accounting requirements, court orders and lawful governmental or regulatory directions.

Legal Basis & Consent

By registering for, accessing or participating in YUVA programmes, applying for an internship or fellowship, registering as a member or volunteer, submitting information through the YUVA website, or otherwise providing Personal Data to YUVA, you acknowledge the processing of your Personal Data as described in this Privacy Policy.

YUVA processes Personal Data in accordance with applicable Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and applicable rules and regulations.

Depending on the circumstances, processing may be undertaken:

  • with your consent;
  • for purposes permitted under applicable law;
  • where necessary to provide or administer a programme, service or opportunity requested by you;
  • to comply with legal or regulatory requirements;
  • to protect the security and integrity of YUVA’s systems and activities; or
  • for other lawful purposes permitted under applicable law.

Withdrawal of Consent

Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw your consent by contacting YUVA through the designated Privacy/Grievance channel.

Withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before such withdrawal and will not apply to information that YUVA is required or otherwise permitted to retain or process under applicable law.

Please note that withdrawal of consent may limit or terminate your ability to participate in certain programmes, receive certain communications, complete an application, obtain certification or access associated benefits where the relevant processing is necessary for that purpose.

Data Sharing & Disclosure

YUVA does not sell, rent or commercially exploit your Personal Data.

We may share Personal Data only where reasonably necessary and with appropriate safeguards with the following categories of recipients:

A. Service Providers & Technology Partners

Third-party vendors and service providers supporting:

  • Website hosting and infrastructure;
  • Information technology;
  • Registration and application forms;
  • Email and communication services;
  • Event management;
  • Learning or application management systems;
  • Data storage and cloud services;
  • Analytics and technical support; and
  • Other services necessary for YUVA’s operations.

B. Payment Service Providers

Information necessary to process donations may be shared with or processed by payment service providers, including Razorpay.

C. Programme Partners, Evaluators & Collaborators

Where necessary for administering a particular internship, fellowship, programme, event or collaboration, relevant information may be shared with authorised programme partners, selection committees, evaluators, mentors, institutions or collaborators. Only information reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose will be shared.

D. Institutional Collaborators (optional)

Programme-related reports, impact assessments or research outputs shared with institutional collaborators will, wherever reasonably possible, use aggregated, anonymised or de-identified information unless identifiable information is separately authorised or otherwise permitted by applicable law.

E. Legal & Compliance Authorities (optional)

YUVA may disclose Personal Data when required or permitted by applicable law, court order, governmental direction, regulatory requirement or other lawful process, or where necessary to protect the legal rights, safety, property or integrity of YUVA, its participants or others.

Third-Party Platforms

Certain YUVA activities, registrations, applications, communications or payment services may involve third-party platforms.

Where you choose to interact with such platforms, the collection and processing of information by those third parties may also be governed by their respective privacy policies and terms.

YUVA does not control the privacy practices of third parties that it does not operate.

Data Storage, Location, and Security

Data Residency

YUVA’s core participant data, applicant records, membership information, internship and fellowship applications, donation-related records and other Personal Data collected and maintained by YUVA will be stored and processed on infrastructure located in India, subject to applicable technology and service-provider arrangements.

YUVA intends to maintain its relevant databases and records within India.

Security Standards

YUVA implements reasonable managerial, technical and organisational safeguards—including appropriate access controls, secure transmission, secure systems and controlled access—to protect Personal Data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure.

Access to Personal Data is limited to authorised individuals and service providers who require such access for legitimate YUVA-related purposes.

No electronic storage or transmission system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. However, YUVA takes reasonable measures appropriate to the nature of the Personal Data and the risks associated with its processing.

Data Retention & Deletion

YUVA retains Personal Data only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the objectives for which it was collected, including:

  • Administering programmes and activities;
  • Maintaining membership and participation records;
  • Processing internship and fellowship applications;
  • Maintaining certificate and recognition records;
  • Processing and maintaining donation and financial records;
  • Responding to enquiries and resolving disputes;
  • Preventing fraud and misuse; and
  • Complying with statutory, legal, tax, accounting or regulatory requirements.

Different categories of information may be retained for different periods depending on their purpose and applicable legal requirements.

Upon the expiration of the operational or legal necessity for retaining Personal Data, it may be:

  • Permanently and securely deleted; or
  • Anonymised/de-identified so that it can no longer reasonably be linked to the individual.

Internship & Fellowship Application Retention

Internship and fellowship applications, including SOPs, CVs, educational information and application responses, may be retained for a reasonable period following completion of the selection process.

This may be necessary for:

  • Maintaining application records;
  • Responding to applicant queries;
  • Addressing disputes or complaints;
  • Maintaining programme documentation;
  • Complying with legal or administrative requirements; or
  • Considering applicants for future opportunities where appropriate and permitted.

YUVA will seek to ensure that such information is not retained longer than reasonably necessary for these purposes.

Participant & Applicant Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have the following rights regarding your Personal Data:

  • Right to Access: Request information regarding the Personal Data processed by YUVA and other information available under applicable law.
  • Right to Correction: Request correction or updating of inaccurate or incomplete Personal Data.
  • Right to Deletion: Request deletion of Personal Data where applicable and subject to legal or other lawful retention requirements.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on consent, request withdrawal of such consent.

Events, workshops, seminars, conferences, campaigns, internships, fellowship activities and other programmes conducted under YUVA may be photographed, recorded or documented.

By participating in a YUVA activity, you acknowledge that photographs, videos, audio recordings or statements captured during the activity may be used by YUVA, subject to applicable law, for legitimate organisational purposes including:

  • Programme reports;
  • Annual reports;
  • Educational resources;
  • Website content;
  • Social media;
  • Newsletters;
  • Event documentation;
  • Public communications; and
  • Programme-related promotional materials.

Where a participant is specifically featured for a testimonial, interview or promotional campaign, YUVA may seek additional consent where required.

If you do not wish to be photographed or recorded, you may inform the event or programme administrators in advance or contact YUVA through the details provided below.

YUVA maintains reasonable procedures for identifying, assessing, containing and responding to Personal Data security incidents.

In the event of a Personal Data breach, YUVA will take appropriate steps to contain and address the incident and provide notifications to affected individuals, authorities or other parties where required under applicable law.

YUVA is a youth-focused organisation and certain activities may involve students and young persons who may be below 18 years of age.

Where YUVA collects or processes Personal Data relating to children or other individuals to whom special protections apply under applicable law, YUVA will comply with the applicable legal requirements and safeguards.

Where parental or lawful guardian consent or verification is required, YUVA may request appropriate confirmation before allowing participation in the relevant activity.

YUVA does not knowingly seek to collect Personal Data from minors for purposes unrelated to its legitimate programmes and activities.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

YUVA reserves the right to amend, modify or update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect:

  • Changes in YUVA programmes and activities;
  • Changes in website functionality or technology;
  • Changes in data-processing practices;

Governing Law & Jurisdiction

This Privacy Policy shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of India.

Subject to applicable law, courts of competent jurisdiction in Delhi, India shall have jurisdiction over matters arising in connection with this Privacy Policy or the processing of Personal Data by YUVA.

Nothing in this clause shall limit any statutory right or remedy available to an individual under applicable law.
